Module Descriptions
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This is the modular RR designed and built by Doug Baer, Chris O'Brien, and Val Pistilli (As of 2001). The standards used follow the NMRA standards with modifications suggested by St. Albans Railroad modular group. We further modified the electrical portion to use #12 stranded wire to hook up to the rails since we will use Digitrax DCC exclusively. We like switching, so there is plenty of it here!
We will be posting OUR standards when they are written up. We are seeking new members to acquire/build modules to connect with us at future shows. If interested, click here. |

| My three modules are designed to be heavy industrial. Many different industries with lots of switching. There are places for twenty six cars to be spotted. They are in various stages of completion with the most complete on the left to the newest module addition on the right. Construction started in summer of 2001.
I painted the rails on my modules. A tedious job but the results are well worth it. Improves the appearance immensely. I used Floquil Rail Brown. Shake well and use a small brush. Keep the brush wet and perpendicular to the rails to paint over and around the spikes. Don't forget to paint the guardrails and the tips of the wing rails on switches. |

| This two-module set is inspired by prototype photographs of the H.J. Heinz plant in Pittsburgh, PA. The modules represent a typical production line of raw materials and supplies on one side, while the finished product is brought out the other side in various forms of ketchup, vinegar, and other food items. An icing platform and clean-out tracks are provided to better accommodate the rail shipments. When viewing the modules from the front, west is to the left and east is to the right. The modules were built by Doug Baer and delivered mid-summer of 2001. Design and layout of the trackwork commenced through the summer and actual construction began by late summer of 2001. |

| Doug Baer designed and built the modules of Poplar for stability, lightness, and workability. These four belong to Doug as well as the four corners and the two short end spacers. As you can see by the track plan, that we like to operate, and the track plan reflects this. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Here we see two corner modules and the two foot end spacer. Our main lines are at 5" and 7" from the front edge. In the haste of getting ready for the show the next day, the spacer module had the tracks glued on at 3" and 5". Ooops! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
